LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Utilize the Child PTSD Symptom Scale (CPSS) to screen potential cases for implementation of the CFTSI model
  • Explain the impact of trauma and the rationale for the CFTSI model to the caregiver
  • Appraise the caregiver’s current status of trauma symptoms and cumulative stressors
  • Identify the caregiver’s understanding of their child’s trauma history and current trauma symptoms
  • Explain the impact of trauma and the rationale for the CFTSI model to the child
  • Appraise the child’s trauma history and current status of trauma symptoms 
  • Assist child and caregiver in building communication and mutual understanding about child’s level of current trauma symptoms
  • Identify most concerning trauma symptoms to be the focus of coping strategies and behavioral interventions
  • Present and practice selected coping strategies and behavioral interventions with the child and caregiver
  • Monitor increase in communication between caregiver and child about child’s trauma symptoms, and monitor level of child’s trauma symptoms
  • Assess need for any additional treatment and/or services and make recommendations accordingly

Continuing Education:

Continuing Education Credits: Continuing Education Credits are pending for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for its entirety to receive credits. You must have your license number with you to check in. 

  • Counselors: Continuing Education Credits are pending for this training. The VCE is National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
  • Social Workers: Continuing Education Credits are pending for this training.

There is no fee to attend this training.

REGISTRATION:
Registration for this event is online ONLY.  Faxes will NOT be accepted.  Participants may attempt to attend the training as a walk-in (someone that did not pre-register). However, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to ensure there is enough room. Plan to pre-register to ensure your attendance.
