Course Description:
Competency may be defined as: “..a knowledge, skill or attitude that enables one to effectively perform the activities of a given occupation or function to the standards expected in employment.” This Core Competency training will provide an overview of specific areas vital to successful clinical service delivery to children, youth and families served within the DWIHN network. Clinical staff employeed by DWIHN Children's Providers are required to attend this training.
Course Objectives:
1. Learn what Systems of Care are in the scope of community mental health
2. Understand the "Golden Thread" theory and how it benefits those receiving services through Community Mental Health settings
3. Learn how to formulate strength-based goals and measurable objectives, as well as how to tie them to appropriate clinical interventions
4. Understand the importance of Multidisciplinary Teams and Ancillary Services 5. Learn how to ensure effective clinical care and manage documentation in a timely manner
