Course Description:

This presentation will provide an overview of ASD to help attendees describe the characteristics of and dispel some of the myths about this complex condition. An introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis and “ABA Therapy” will be provided to help attendees describe how best to support individuals with ASD with evidence-based best practices.

Course Objectives:

1. Describe characteristics of ASD.
2. Identify three myths of ASD.
3. Describe ASD and ABA Therapy.
4. Implement at least one effective ABA strategy to support children diagnosed with ASD.

  • 2 Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals credits: These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QIDP staff.
  • 2 Training hour credits: this event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.
