This training will review changes in perspective incorporating feedback from the autistic community regarding autism and how we can move from autism awareness to autism acceptance as well as an overview of neurodiversity and what that means. In addition, with incorporating feedback from the neurodiverse community, an introduction to incorporating assent and compassionate care in ABA
program goals will be reviewed.
Targeted Participants:
Behavioral health care providers, social workers, mental health professionals, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
Course Objectives:
The course objective for this one-hour training is to increase understanding and knowledge of the autistic and neurodiverse community and learn the steps to incorporate assent into client program goals.
Agenda:
9:00am-9:30am: Autism Acceptance and Neurodiversity
9:30am-10:00am: Assent, Dissent, Compassionate Care
