Course Description:

During this training you will learn what is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder and what are its causes and treatments.

-There will be a short example of how executive functioning can be effected and what communication could look like for    a person with this disorder.

-You will learn how to be strength based for utilizing school and home strategies for managing symptoms and behaviors.

-After taking this training, you will be able to identify assessments that can be used to determine if a person is   symptomatic and you will be able to understand the referral process for further testing.Course Objective:

Course Objectives:

The goal of this training is to help individuals that live and work with children and families to identify possible   symptoms of   FASD.

-The individual will learn how to use assessment tools and where to refer for further testing.

-Individuals will learn how to use strategies for managing academic and behavioral issues that are in correlation with the disorder.

Timed Agenda:

9:00-9:30: Introduction to self and credentials and introduction and explanation of FASD

9:30-10:00: Symptoms and causes and how society, environmental, and neurological development is affected by FASD

-10:00-10:30: Strategies for managing symptoms

10:30-11:00: Fact and Questions Tips review

If you work WITHIN Wayne County please dismiss the payment portion of the registration process and hit "submit".

If you work OUTSIDE of Wayne County there is a nominal $15.00 registration fee to attend this training. Please pay prior to your arrival by entering your credit card information when the registration process asks for it. You may also bring a company check or money order for the full amount with you to the registration table at the event as well. All checks/money orders can be made out to ‘DWIHN’. Receipts will be available upon request.



Cancellation Refund Policy

Substitutions are permitted at any time. No Shows will be billed at the same rate. Cancellations must be received in writing no later than 7 business days prior to the training to asmith1@dwihn.org in order to obtain a full refund. If cancellation is received less than 7 days prior to the training, no refund will be issued.
