Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds will be available at 5 locations via video-conference! Attendees will be able to participate, save time and gas, and still receive Continuing Education Credits. Please read details and registration instructions below.
Date: Thursday, September 18, 2014 (Last day to register Sunday, September 14)
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, to ensure parking arrive by 9:00 AM
Location: Live site: The Guidance Center's Center For Excellence, Southgate. Broadcast sites: The Children's Center, Detroit; Community Living Services, Wayne; Lincoln Behavioral Services, Redford; and Northeast Guidance Center's Wellness Academy, Detroit.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this training.
Suggested Participants: Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Juvenile Justice and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers, child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses, occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.
Professional staff within our Community Partners who interact with children, adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental Health System, including Department of Human Services; Hospitals; Law Enforcement; School Personnel, including Detroit Public Schools; and other Social Service Organizations.
Training Description: Participants will learn the benefits and return on investment of the national children's medical home model and how the Wayne Children's Healthcare Access Program is partnering with diverse stakeholders to improve quality, child health outcomes and advance systems change. Co-presenters for this interactive session will include 'Voices' from WCHAP's partnerships with Families, Primary Care Practices and Partners.
Learning Objectives:
- Medical Home Model - Participants will learn the history, standards and examples of high performing medical home best practices and policies and how these align to Patient Centered Medical Home and the 'Triple Aim' for health and behavioral health
- CHAP Model – Participants will learn the key goals and outcomes of the CHAP framework for improving quality, health outcomes and cost savings as applied in Wayne, Kent and other MI-CHAP communities. WCHAP will share 'lessons learned' and opportunities for strengthening partnerships and collective impact between primary care, mental health and education programs, health plans and the community.
- Integrated Healthcare – Participants will learn some of the challenges and opportunities reported by primary care practices, hospitals and families working to better understand mental health and integrated approaches to care.
Continuing Education Credits: 2.0 Continuing Education Credits are offered for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety. You must have your license number when you check in.
- Social Workers: 2.0 continuing education credits are pending for this training.
- Counselors: 2.0 continuing education credits are pending for this training.. The VCE is a NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Proveder (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP soley is responsible for all aspects of the program
- Substance Abuse Professionals: 2.0 Non-specific Continuing Education Credits are pending by MCBAP for substance use professionals, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADC).
- Children's Mental Health Professionals (CMHP): These training hours meet the MDCH training requirement for CMHP staff.
- Medical Professionals: The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians.
The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maxiumum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Registration/Walk In Policy: Participants are welcome to attend the training as a walk-in, someone that did not pre-register. However, walk-ins will NOT be guaranteed seats or materials. Walk-ins will be asked to wait until the training begins in order to receive training materials and be seated to ensure there is enough room. Plan to pre-register to ensure your attendance.
