Perfect for therapists, DBT skills trainers, peer support specialists and front line staff, this three-day training will focus primarily on the skills taught: Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation Skills. Those who attend will also learn how to structure and format a DBT Skills Training Group as well learn how to prioritize and target what behaviorsto address during group (along with providing case examples of actually how to treat them). The training will also discuss common obstacles clinicians face when implementing Skills Group (homework non-compliance, lack of attendance, lack of commitment, etc.) and what DBT strategies to use to treat them. Attendees will learn what to keep in mind when adapting DBT Skills Training to fit different settings and populations. This training will also include material from Marsha Linehan’s DBT Skills Training Manual, 2nd Edition.

Objectives: 

As a result of completing this training, participants can expect to:

1) Identify the four skills training modules taught in DBT

2) Teach at least one skill per skills training module

3) Identify the target hierarchy of DBT Skills Training Group

4) Explain the difference between “therapy destroying” vs. “therapy interfering” behavior

5) Explain what is meant by “skill acquisition”, “skill strengthening” and “skill generalization”

6) Explain how to conduct a missing link analysis on homework non-compliance

7) Implement at least one mindfulness exercise in DBT Skills Training Group

8) Explain ways to increase homework compliance in DBT Skills Training Group

9) Identify the roles and responsibilities of the primary leader and co-leader in DBT Skills Training Group

-MCBAP - 6 Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals are approved for this training.

-QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (QMHP): These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP        staff.

-TRAINING HOURS: The 6 hours awarded from this event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider          agencies.

If you are not actively practicing at a CRSP in Wayne County, there is a $325.00 registration fee to attend this training. Please pay prior to your arrival by entering your credit card information when the registration process asks for it. You may also bring a company check or money order for the full amount with you to the registration table at the event as well. All checks/money orders can be made out to ‘DWIHN’.
