DATES: Monday, September 13 & Thursday, September 23, 2010   This is a two (2) day training
TIME:  9:00 am - 4:00 pm

SUGGESTED PARTICIPANTS: Wayne County Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers, child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses, occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.

TRAINING ABSTRACT: This two-day introductory training will use didactic presentations and small group discussions help participants understand Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT).  IDDT is an evidence-based practice shown to significantly improve the functioning of clients with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse.  Participants will learn to manage both conditions using a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to intervention.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Participants will be able to:
1.  Understand the nature of co-occurring disorders in community treatment.
2.  Develop a working knowledge of the stages of change.
3.  Develop a knowledge of motivational interviewing with dual diagnosed clients.
4.  Develop an appreciation of the recent research on treatment co-occurring disorders.
5.  Learn the critical program elements that comprise IDDT.
6.  Learn the critical program elements to assess their agency setting for potential fit.

TRAINING INFORMATION: This two-day training is free to attend.  Lunch will NOT be provided.  Pre-registration is required.  Please see pre-registration instructions below.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:
Continuing education credits are offered for this training.  Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety including the question and answer portion.  Late arrivals and early departures will result in the deduction of awarded credits.  All participants MUST return to the check-in desk to sign-out and/pick-up your certificate of attendance or else you will forfeit your proof of attendance and training hours/credits!

-LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS: 12.0 continuing education credits are pending for this training.  The Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.
